Born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, violinist Nadia Kalmykova began her musical studies at
an early age, influenced by her musical family. At the age of 12 she moved to Norway,
where she entered Barratt-Due Music Institute for highly gifted young music students in
Oslo. Thereafter she moved to Vienna to continue her studies at the prestigious Music and
Arts University of Vienna in the class of Pavel Vernikov, from where she graduated with
honors, receiving Bachelor and Master Degrees. At the same time, she was studying
chamber music in the class of Johannes Meissl (a member of Artis Quartet) at the
University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, which she graduated in 2021.

Her musical development has also been influenced by legendary artists such as Pierre Amoyal, Leonidas Kavakos, Natalia Gutman, Menahem Pressler, Alfred Brendel and Hatto Bayerle among others.

Nadia has won several international competitions, such as International Duo Competition "A feast of Duos" in Switzerland (2016), Padova International Music Competition (2013),
“Citta di Moncalieri” (2014) and has been invited to perform at the music festivals like
Sion Festival (Switzerland), Festspillene in Bergen (Norway), Sørum Festival (Norway),
Festival of the Aegean, Gina Bachauer Festival (Greece), Kronberg Academy (Germany),
Hainburg Festival, Wien Modern (Austria).

Nadia made her debut as a soloist with orchestra, at the age of eleven, performing Vivaldi double concerto in the Small Hall of Saint- Petersburg Philharmonia. Later she performed with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Paneuropean Philharmonia and several youth orchestras in Norway, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. As a soloist and a chamber musician she has performed at prestigious venues such as Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, ORF Radio Kulturhaus (Austria), Parnassos Hall (Greece), Bergen Grieghallen (Norway).

As an orchestra musician Nadia collected her experience in Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich (temporary contract in 2017 and a regular guest since), as well as leading positions in many youth orchestras.
