Constantin Siepermann

Constantin Siepermann started his first cello lessons at the age of five with Frédérique Labbow. Two years later he joined the class of Prof. Catalin Ilea, who taught him till 2019, when Constantin left the prestigious Julius-Stern-Institute of the University of the Arts Berlin to continue his studies at the Music Academy Freiburg with Prof. Jean-Guihen Queyras. Currently, he is finishing his master’s degree with Reinhard Latzko at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna.

An alumnus of the Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Music College, he has been awarded various scholarships by the International Academy of Music for the Promotion of Young German Talents, the Kronberg-Academy and the Richard-Wagner-Society. Further musical impulses come through regular master classes with – among others - David Geringas, Valentin Radutiu, Jens-Peter Maintz, Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt, Johannes Moser, Gabriel Schwabe, Steven Isserlis, etc.

 

Constantin has been awarded the 1st prize in the „Violoncello Solo“-category of the 2016-federal edition of the German Jugend Musiziert-competition. The same year also saw him winning the WESPE-Special Award of the German Music Council. He is furthermore a laureate of the Young Talents’ Competition of the Baltic Music Festival (2016), the Dussmann Competition Berlin (2014 & 2017), the Napolinova Competition and the Szeczin Classic Summer Competition (2020). In 2022 he won the 3rd prize at the George Enescu International Competition in Bucharest (Romania) and was awarded in the same year with the Grand Prix, the 1st prize and the Ligeti-award at the Gustav Mahler International Cello Competition (Czech Republic).

Constantin Siepermann made his debut as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Berlin in 2017, on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in 2018 and in the Musikverein in Vienna in 2022. He appears regularly both as a soloist and a chamber musician on various European stages and festivals like the Musica Mundi (Belgium), Musica suprimata (Romania), Festival de Sion (Switzerland), Amati Festival Maastricht and International Holland Music Summer – IHMS (Netherlands), Usedomer Klassiksommer, Bayreuth Festival, Young Euro Classics (Germany), Trame Sonore (Italy), Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (France), StyriArte and Salzburg Festival (Austria) etc. 

He plays a cello by Riccardo Antoniazzi (Cremona 1890), offered to him through a private sponsorship.
