Nadia Kalmykova

The Norwegian violinist of Russian origin, Nadia Kalmykova, completed her studies in the class of prof. Pavel Vernikov (Music and Arts University of Vienna), at the same time she completed her chamber music Masters in the class of prof. Johannes Meissl (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna), where she graduated in 2021. Furthermore, since 2024 she is also a student in a string quartet program with prof. Günter Pichler at Escuela superior de musica Reina Sofia in Madrid.

 

Her musical development has also been influenced by legendary artists such as Pierre Amoyal, Leonidas Kavakos, Natalia Gutman, Menahem Pressler, Alfred Brendel and Hatto Bayerle among others. 

 

Nadia made her debut as a soloist with orchestra, at the age of eleven, performing Vivaldi double concerto in the Small Hall of Saint- Petersburg Philharmonia. Later she performed with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Paneuropean Philharmonia and several youth orchestras in Norway, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. Some prestigious venues include Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, ORF Radio Kulturhaus (Austria), Parnassos Hall (Greece), Bergen Grieghallen (Norway). 

 

Furthermore, Nadia is a prizewinner at several international violin competitions, such as International Duo Competition"A feast of Duos" in Switzerland (2016), Padova International Music Competition (2013), “Citta di Moncalieri” (2014) and has been invited to perform at the music festivals like Sion Festival (Switzerland), Festspillene in Bergen (Norway), Hainburg Festival, Wien Modern (Austria). 

 

As an actice chamber musician Nadia collaborated with artists such as Pavel Vernikov, Reinhardt Latzko, Pablo Barragan, Anneleen Lenaerts and Philipp Scheucher among others. She collected her orchestral experience at Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and appears at leading position in Orchestra Vigo 430 and Cuore Chamber Orchestra. 

She plays a Giovanni Grancino violin kindly on loan from the Goh Family Fondation.
